3rd annual TiSSA Plenum and PreConference of the PhD-Network
August 26 – 31, 2005 in Gdansk, Poland
For the 3rd annual meeting of The international 'Social Work & Society' Academy, TiSSA has left its 'birthplace' St. Petersburg. TiSSA Plenum 2005 including the PreConference of the PhD-Network took place in Gdansk, Poland. About 120 colleagues from Russia & Europe, North & South America and Australia, including more than 30 PhD students, vitalised an inspiring debate about "Local Social Policy and Social Work – Perspectives, Activities, and Partners in Civil Society".
TiSSA 2005 was organized by Fundacja SIC! in Poland and the Dutch-Polish Matra SIC! Project, financially supported by the Matra Programme of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Center for Social Service Studies at Bielefeld University, Germany, in close cooperation with the Internet Journal "Social Work & Society" and the Research Training Group "Youth Welfare in Transition" of the German Research Foundation (DFG). The TiSSA organizers were: Willem Blok (chair of the local organizing committee) and Hans-Uwe Otto (chair of the international TiSSA steering committee).
Based on the inquisitiveness and engagement of the participants and the work of all the colleagues from Foundation SIC!, TiSSA on tour was a challenging and successful experience, that is to be continued.
